Summary
- Samsung has paused the rollout of One UI 7 to address a “serious bug” that prevents some users from unlocking their phones after the update.
- The release schedule for One UI 7 is “being updated” and “new timing and availability will be shared shortly,” according to a statement from Samsung.
- One UI 7 has been temporarily pulled from Samsung’s over-the-air (OTA) update servers for the Galaxy S24 series, and the Z Fold 6 and Flip 6.
Samsung finally started the global rollout of One UI 7 last week, starting on April 7 in South Korea and on April 10 in the US and other regions. However, less than a week later, the rollout has now been put on hold.
Ice Universe, a known tipster on X, posted that Samsung has halted the rollout of One UI 7 due to a “serious bug” that prevents some Galaxy S24 users from unlocking their phones after downloading the update. Though the bug primarily impacts Galaxy S24 owners in South Korea, it seems Samsung has decided to pause its global rollout as a precaution.
In a statement to Android Authority, Samsung confirmed “The One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience. The new timing and availability will be shared shortly.”

Delays have cursed One UI 7 from the start
Before Samsung confirmed the news, Tarun Vats, another tipster on X, reported that One UI 7 had been removed from Samsung’s over-the-air (OTA) update servers in the US, EU, and Korea, for the Galaxy S24 series, and the Z Fold 6 and Flip 6.
One UI 7 has proven problematic for Samsung. After months of delays in rolling out the update, a pause in the rollout is the last thing that users eagerly waiting for it want to hear. It’s already been six months since Android 15 launched, and some Samsung users are still waiting to be able to download the Android 15-based One UI 7 on their phones.
There is no timeline yet for when One UI 7 will become available again. Hopefully, Samsung can resolve this unlocking bug quickly and get this show back on the road. If it’s any consolation, leaks suggest that One UI 8 might release much sooner than expected this year, which means Samsung users might get Android 16 much faster than they did Android 15.
