Kraven the Hunter Is Coming Home This Week, If You Dare

If you’ve been cravin’ some Kraven, the hunt Is finally over. Sony just announced that its most recent non-Spider-Man Spider-Man spinoff, Kraven the Hunter, is coming to digital on Tuesday, January 14. With it comes a slew of bonus features and the inevitability of the film being memed to death on all manner of social media.

The film, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Russell Crowe, Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, and Christopher Abbott, opened in theaters in early December 2024 and quickly became a critical and financial disappointment. The film sports a shocking 17% on Rotten Tomatoes and grossed under $25 million domestically and barely $60 million worldwide. By almost every single measuring stick, the film was a disaster.

The keyword there, however, is “almost.” Because one category Kraven didn’t wholly fail in is when it’s put up against other Sony Spider-Man spinoffs. It’s got a higher Rotten Tomatoes score than both Madame Web and Morbius. There are more Spider-Man connections than Venom. And while Kraven was outgrossed, in most cases comfortably, by all the rest, there are a few other things worthwhile about it too. You can read our review here for more on those.
