STRAWBERRY BREAD – The Southern Lady Cooks

If you love quick breads you will definitely want to try this delicious Strawberry Bread.

We love strawberries and this delicious pudding is a favorite! It is the perfect spring/summer dessert!

❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

This Strawberry Bread is so good, using fresh strawberries. It is terrific with coffee for breakfast or served as a dessert.  This recipe is excellent for a spring or summer brunch or a wedding/baby shower. Honestly, this bread never disappoints.  It’s simply a beautiful bread that’s full of flavor.  It’s always a hit!

SWAPS

We haven’t tried it, but I see no reason why you couldn’t use Greek yogurt in the place of the sour cream. It will also add a higher protein content to the bread. We use buttermilk because of the higher fat content and we love to bake with buttermilk. It makes the bread mosit and delicious. You can try it with milk if you like, but I can’t say exactly how it will turn out. It also won’t be the same with the buttermilk substitute. If you are not a fan of nuts you can simply leave them out.

⭐TIP

We keep this bread in the refrigerator. Being made with fruit, it will mold quickly, especially in the warmer months of the year. We love to reheat a piece in the microwave, slather with butter and enjoy with coffee.

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecan or walnut pieces
  • Cream together with a mixer the butter, sugar and eggs. In another bowl whisk together the flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture along with sour cream, buttermilk and vanilla extract. Mix with mixer.

  • Fold in nut pieces and sliced strawberries with a spoon. Spray a 9 x 5 loaf pan with cooking spray. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 60 to 65 minutes until center tests done. Makes 1 loaf.

We keep this bread in a cool place or the refrigerator. This bread will mold because of the fruit.
