Summary
- Apple is in the “late testing” phase of the M5 iPad Pro and the M6 iPad Pro is already in development.
- The M5 MacBook Pro is expected to debut later this year, but won’t feature any significant design changes. However, in 2026, Apple is expected to “overhaul” the design of the MacBook Pro.
- Apple’s next entry-level iPad, the 12th-generation iPad, is reportedly in the works for a 2026 release. Plus, Apple is developing a new AI-powered coach for its health app for iOS 19.4.
So far this year, Apple has released the iPhone 16e, M3 iPad Air, and the 11th-generation iPad, but the Cupertino-based company is just getting started. It has big plans for the rest of the year and heading into 2026.
The iPhone 17 series is expected to launch in the fall, alongside the rumored iPhone 17 Air, Apple’s new ultra-slim smartphone. However, besides iPhones, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple has a lot in store for its other popular devices, such as the MacBook Pro and iPad. Here’s what Apple reportedly has in the pipeline for 2025 and into the future for its most popular devices, plus a major overhaul planned for its health app.

4 iPad Pro (M5)
A simple refresh
Apple last refreshed the iPad Pro with its M4 chipset in May 2024, and according to Gurman’s latest report, the tech giant is in the “late testing” phases for the new M5 iPad Pro, with production expected to begin “in the second half of this year.” The iPad Pro is expected to be one of the first devices to be powered by Apple’s new M5 chipset.
The iPad Pro’s design isn’t likely to change this year, either. Last year, Apple overhauled it with an OLED screen and a thinner design, which will carry forward to the M5 model. Apple is reportedly already working on the M6 iPad Pro as well, which will include its brand-new in-house-designed modem. Apple introduced the Apple C1 with the iPhone 16e in February, and it’s expected to begin incorporating its new modem on more devices in the coming years.

3 iPad 12
The next entry-level iPad is in the works
Apple / Pocket-lint
Apple released the 11th-generation iPad a couple of weeks ago, but Gurman reports that Apple is already in the early stages of developing the 12th-generation iPad. The entry-level iPad is a popular budget tablet, and according to the CIRP’s latest report, it surpassed the iPad Pro in terms of sales in 2024.
Not much is known yet about the 12th-generation iPad other than that it is expected to feature a new chipset and will likely be released next year. The new 11th-generation iPad is powered by Apple’s A16 chipset, which debuted in the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022 but doesn’t support Apple Intelligence. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next iPad has Apple’s A17 Pro chipset, the same as the iPad mini, to support Apple Intelligence.

2 MacBook Pro refresh and overhaul
OLED could finally be coming to the MacBook Pro
Apple is reportedly working on the M5 MacBook Pro, which is expected to release later this year. The 2025 MacBook Pro is anticipated to be a simple chipset refresh, so don’t expect any significant design changes to the laptop. However, that won’t be the case next year.
In 2026, Gurman reports that Apple will finally release a MacBook Pro overhaul. The current MacBook Pro design dates back to 2021, with the launch of the 14-inch and 16-inch M1 Pro and M1 Max MacBook Pro. The most significant design changes rumored for the MacBook Pro in 2026 are an OLED display, a slimmer profile, and Apple’s M6 chipset.

1 AI health coaching
Apple’s Health app could soon be a lot smarter
In a surprising development, Gurman reports that Apple is working on a revamped health app codenamed Mulberry. It will reportedly feature a new AI-powered health coach, which Gurman described as an “AI agent” capable of making personalized recommendations based on an individual’s health data. The new health app is expected to be released with iOS 19.4 next year.
Gurman provided the example of the AI health coach detecting poor heart rate trends and recommending a video explaining the risks associated with heart disease. The goal of Apple’s new AI health coach is to help inform users about various health conditions while also making suggestions on how to improve their lifestyle and health. Reportedly, Apple is training its new AI health coach with data from physicians hired by the company and will be recording its new health videos at a facility in Oakland, California. Additionally, Apple is looking to hire more healthcare professionals, such as sleep experts, nutritionists, physical therapists, and more.
